Roxette were already big in Sweden, but now the world had caught up. The story of how they broke through in the USA is almost unbelievable. An American exchange student took Look Sharp! home from Sweden and got a local radio station in Minneapolis to play The Look. Then things started to move. Join The Joyride! World Tour was their third concert tour and the first to take them outside Europe. In Globen there were three sold-out nights. It says something about where they stood at that moment. No longer just a Swedish pop phenomenon, but a band carrying their songs out into the world. Marie Fredriksson had that voice that could cut straight through a large arena. Per Gessle had the melodies, the phrases and the pop instinct. A little like ABBA’s music: direct, but built with precision.
