Gröna Lund is an amusement park in Stockholm, but that evening the place carried something else. Miles Davis did not give much away from the stage. No unnecessary talk, no big smiles. Just that trumpet. A good image of a musician does not have to be taken in the middle of the solo. Sometimes the image is in the pause, in the look, in the hand, in what happens between the notes. I was not photographing for the next morning’s newspaper. I was photographing images that might one day stand on their own. Almost forty years later, that day is now.
