Ahead of the Revenge world tour, Eurythmics played a concert during the Golden Rose Rock Festival in Montreux. They were a band I photographed several times, but Annie Lennox was always the one who drew the camera towards her. She changed expression all the time. Small poses, clear looks, movements that never quite stood still. Even in this image there is a small movement, just enough to make it live. Annie Lennox, like Bono in U2, is an artist whose commitment reaches far beyond the stage. HIV/AIDS, women’s rights and people who have ended up far from power. That is close to my own work with Star for Life and AIDS prevention in South African schools.
